Paul W.S. Anderson, who produced Resident Evil: Apocalypse and directed the first film, told The Hollywood Reporter that he has always planned three films for the franchise: "I always thought of the 'Resident Evil' films as a trilogy. The first film was a prequel to the game world. The new movie intersects the film and game worlds. And the third movie will act as a follow-up to the games. It's a nice arc -- prehistory, in-game and then a sequel to the games." Milla Jovovich has already expressed interest in a third film.

Intresting, however im afraid i dislike the resident evil movies, they could have made them much better, no zombie film beats day of the dead
