I'm sorry, but as big of a fan as I am of FF7, and no matter how much I was determined to love this movie after waiting for it for so long... I just... can't. To put it simply, they made a RPG into an action game/movie/thing. While the FF7 should have kickass action scenes in it, it shouldn't be all action scenes. This is a spoiler I guess so beware. . . . . About 90% of the movie is fighting and grunting. The other 10 is a poor excuse of a story to tie things together. The biggest injustice is that it's all about Cloud, and a little bit of Tifa! Well good for that, but what about the rest of them? Red XII actually had one line the whole movie. One line. This movie should have kicked so much ass! All the hype and the time it took to make it! Gahh it just pisses me off so much! Anyone who has seen it, speak your mind.

Why speak my mind when you already have my answer? Yeah everything you said is 100% true, they need alot more of an in depth story and not just 10mins of a story then fight everying big. The hype was amazing for this so i can see why i got let down but i did laugh the first time i heard the battle theme victory on that guys mobile. It really had potential to go real far but i guess the lacked the right attitude to do it.

Do you think that someone who's never played FF7 would enjoy the movie?

It's kinda redundant in THAT case.......
'kinda like someone who's NEVER read an X-men [or Spiderman, or Fantastic Four, or whatver] comic, and then going to watch the movie.
The purist view is that you should start with the original.

I don't think anyone who hasn't played FF7 would really know what's going on. There's a half assed prolouge in the beginning that recaps the entire story of FF7 in about 2 minutes, but that really isn't enough to enjoy this movie completely. Of course if you don't care about the story and just want to some some of the kewlest action scenes ever then you'd probabley get a kick out of Advent Children.

Story wise- they will be ok with it but confused as hell if they have only watched the movie. Action wise-Nearly all of it revolves around fighting so yeah if they like action they will enjoy this no matter how confused they are.

But, then again, if people want action, they don't have to shell out 15 bucks for a DVD, when they can just walk down to the local church, throw a stack of fake hundreds in the middle of the congregation, and watch the hypocrites fight over it

I see that you've never seen Southern Baptist Americans fight

I've never witnessed a bunch of Southerners fighting over religion, but I have seen my relatives get into a brawl over the last roll on Thanksgiving. Maybe Square-enix could tape that and make Final Fantasy: Advent Children 2. Maybe throw in some badly dubbed english just to mix it up.

The only problem would be the lack of anyone with the skin color of Barrett. But, maybe he's "off in Midgar, evacuating citizens before meteor strikes"

Or I could just substitute him with a life-size cardboard cut out of Mr.T thrown into the mix.

Having pictures of black people is illegal in the South, let alone a lifesize cardboard cutout.
You'd probably be arrested just for having something like that, especially when said black man has a gun.

I don't live in the South. Your silly laws mean nothing to me.

Post by Aegisknight on May 13, 2006 4:06:33 GMT
They actually don't have laws....the South hasn't been allowed to make their own laws since the 1850's....if you don't count Georgia, 1750's.

They're ALMOST about to give SOuthern schools more funding, so that they can upgrade from draft air conditioning to a hand-cranked fan in the corner

That can double as gym class!

I almost made an extremely racist comment on what counts as gym class in the south......
But, so far, I'm not convinced that I need to go out and spend 15 bucks to see a crappy action sequence "sequel" to FF7

Yeah, you'd be better off just renting this one. But if you liked FF7 you should atleast watch it once.

I'd rather just *NOT DOWNLOAD IT ILLEGALLY OFF OF THE INTERNET*, instead of renting or buying it.....

I keep forgetting other people have good computers, and are capable of things like that. I can barely download songs. An entire movie would be suicidal.

To be honest, I don't think it was all such a bad film. True enough, the storyline was lacking (A LOT) but the action scenes didn't disappoint. And everyone I know has been borrowing it off me.

well.......doesn't that mean that they're not willing to pay 15 bucks for a movie like this?

hmmm........
Personally, I'm willing to spend a bit of money if the movie/game is really good, but.............50 dollars [don't ask me how many pounds] for a plastic disc is a little bit psychotic.

50 Dollars is something like 20 quid, so you'd be getting for a more expensive price than we of Britain. HAHAHAHAHA......*points* HAHAHAHAHAHAHA *points again* HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Its a shame really, cos' I'd spend 50 dollars on it. Although I could just wait to get it on pirate

$50 is about £30 now, I believe.. Still, the DVD release is only £14.99 over here, in HMV and Virgin, so you Americans are getting ripped off pretty badly...
I pity you...
Although, I'll neevr intend to buy it either way.. I watched some of it, but couldnt stomach it.. I dont like FFVII, and I like my films to have a tangiable story, so yeah.. Not for me..
